Terrified and heartbroken 1-year-old pup surrendered to kill shelter, left with no more tears to cry

I just talked to medical staff at shelter. He was attacked by another dog at his home, so his owner surrendered him to the shelter. Neck area is shaved from bruising and puncture wounds and he has staples under neck from puncture wounds. He was brought to an outside Vet after being surrendered to get evaluated and for supportive care. He’s been returned to shelter and is under observation.

The person I talked to said he looks like a small golden retriever but the lovely owner who dumped him, called him a border collie which is why they listed him as BC. It sounds like he has a good chance of recovery and if a rescue is interested they should not wait, said he’s very sweet but was traumatized from the attack and the injuries. -Lori s
