Another backyard breeder decided he has too many pets so off to the kill shelter Lucas went along with others (but nobody knows who). Who will be his voice as he cries for help ? Who will give him a chance to love and be loved? Its such a cruel world for the unwanted, unloved, and uncared for - they are simply thrown away. I am so heartbroken for this little guy. NOT RESERVED - Lucas WILL BE KILLED ANY MINUTE - Miami-Dade Animal Services.
I am a male brown brindle and white Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about 13 weeks old and I weigh 3 pounds.
Is there something called second chance in life? Not always of course and it seems that this is the curse flying right above my head like a Damocles sword as i sit in iso at MDS, behaving like the best boy in town...Everybody who met me, agrees....I am not transparent , see me for what I am now, not for what i did in the past. I do not even remember what happened and the shelter could not get the truth out of my former family.. I was doomed from the get go....NH said, no inquiries about me.. I am a dog not even to be considered... Please, see me...I do exist. I do dream of a new master and family."
A staff member writes: Dogs like Lucas are my reason for waking up to come to work every morning. Wonderful dog in a home one day, scared dog in shelter the next day. Life has a funny way of hitting us. I know this is happening all around the world, and I don’t know Lucas too well honestly, but the feeling he gives me hits really close to home. I remember when I was hired about a year ago, I was asked the question, “Can you imagine what it would feel like if you were evicted from your house at the crack of dawn with no notice or warning?” Lucas embodies the effects of “change in environment”. I knew he wasn’t likely to warm up to me quickly since sudden changes can affect everyone in different ways, but I do know that when placed in the hands of a patient and understanding adopter or foster, who will give Lucas the time he needs to adjust, he will be open his heart to them and become the best companion I know he can be.
