His name is Clyde, and the kind and gentle Aussie, 17-years-old, was surrendered to the East Valley Shelter in California by his owners on Sunday. The senior’s plight touches all of our hearts as compassionate animal advocates and friends question how anyone could drive their dog to a busy shelter, take off his collar and walk away after so many years together? Sadly, dogs are left behind much too often, and even more tragic are the seniors left to mourn in noisy shelters once they realize their families are gone forever. Some are lucky; some find new homes.
This dog’s Pet Harbor link can be found here. “My name is Clyde and I am a neutered male, black and tricolor Australian Shepherd mix. The shelter thinks I am about 17 years old. I weigh approximately 63 pounds. I have been at the shelter since Jan 29, 2017.” For more information about this animal, call
Los Angeles Animal Services – East Valley Shelter at (888) 452-7381. Ask for information about animal ID number A1678905.
There has been an offer to help pay for any expenses for Clyde for the remainder of his life. Please share this boy’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives; the rescue community is Clyde’s only hope, and whether he has one week, one month or years to live, this boy surely deserves better than what has just occurred.
For additional information including veterinary records made available by the shelter, interested adopters are urged to call:
