She very nearly lost her life. Please read her story and help find her a safe home

This beautiful Golden mix is in Austin but was taken out of a shelter in Fort Worth where she very nearly lost her life. Please read her story and help this family find her a safe home. They cannot hang onto her. Their daughter rescued her to keep her from dying.
This dog seems fine with other dogs! :)

Below is their email to me:

Our daughter rescued a lab/retriever mix 1-year old female from a kill shelter in Ft. Worth where she lives last week. She is very sweet - a 1 year old golden/lab mix. The shelter told my daughter the dog would be euthanized soon.

Unfortunately, she has become more that my daughter can handle - my daughter actually had her in the ER 6 hours after adopting, for an infected site where she was spayed. She called my husband and I a few days ago asking for help.

This dog is very very scared. She puts on her brakes when she doesn’t want to move and my daughter was having to carry her everywhere. She cowers in corners and it is obvious she was mistreated. The vet also told her the dog has bite marks from the shelter - he said the shelter is very bad and all the dogs are just thrown in the yard together - I’m guessing she was bullied. She was an owner surrender from a home where over 10 dogs where found.

This dog is now in our home here in Austin. We don't want to send her back to that kill shelter but we also cannot keep her and are not equipped to care for her. We already tried Golden Rescue and they will not take her because she is a mix.

I have attached a picture of “Zelda”. She is in good physical health, has been spayed as I mentioned, heart worm negative, and received her vaccinations. She is finishing her course of antibiotics for her incision infection - however the vet looked at the site and said it has healed fine. I would appreciate your help and any information ASAP!

She is not aggressive at all, doesn’t growl, and lets my husband and I pet her fine. She will occasionally give me a “kiss” and wag her tail. But it also goes between her legs a lot. She is very sweet!

I think she will need a yard or easy access to one. When she gets scared and doesn’t want to go anywhere, she stops full force.

Since we have had her we take her out regularly on a leash for now in the backyard and she goes just fine. As soon as her feet hit the grass, she trots around and loves to explore. She has had no accidents in the house. But again, as we stop to walk back to the back door, she freezes and won’t budge. We have to carry her back in. I’m guessing she has not been on a leash and needs leash training as well.

She is just scared and is going to take time and TLC.

2 years old blind pup down into a deep depression, he will be in immediate grave danger

BEYOND URGENT! Shelby, NC; “Elijah” Sweetest, Rottie X, w/Diminished Vision
THE SHELTER IS FILLING UP QUICKLY AND WHEN THEY ARE FULL ELIJAH WILL BE IN EXTREME DANGER OF BEING PTS! There is little time to hesitate here! Please help! Only 2 years old! $25 Pledged so far!

ELIJAH, Animal ID #A37392731
Please help this precious little boy find a new forever home or rescue now before it is too late! Please do not let him die afraid and alone in a shelter! He is still a baby at only 2 years old! And what a great baby he is! Loves everyone, has a great personality, is housetrained and gets along great with both dogs and cats, although he doesn’t much care for overly active dogs!

ELIJAH has bilateral retinal detachment, which is causing diminished vision but please do not let that stop you for one second from adopting or rescuing this Sweetheart! Vision is not a dog’s primary sense, as it is for us, and anyone who has ever known a dog with diminished vision, including those totally blind, will tell you that once acclimated, which usually takes just a few days, you forget they have any eye issues at all and they are the same characters, the same happy & loving dogs, if not more so, as all the rest! It truly is amazing! This sweet pup will be no different!

ELIJAH is neutered, utd on all age appropriate shots, and housebroken, gets along with both cats and dogs, has a great personality, calm and patient! Ready made to fit right into the any family with older children!!! He must be an inside dog only, and because of his vision, in a home with older children only! While ELIJAH is not in any immediate danger of being pts, he has been at the shelter since December 14th, and they are filling up quickly! When they are full, which can be at any time, he will be in immediate grave danger so please don’t hesitate here!

Boo-hoo-hoo! 12 year old Dudley doesn't understand why nobody wants to adopt him

LONG ISLAND, NY

Boo-hoo-hoo! 12 year old Dudley doesn't understand why nobody wants to adopt him. After Dudley's first post on SSD he had some interest, but everyone then disappeared. And after his second post, he had ZERO interest. What gives?!? 🙁 Dudley is very easygoing, dog and cat friendly, and a lover-boy to the core. Let's get Dudley the attention he deserves! PLEASE SHARE!

PupStarz Rescue wrote, "Weighing in at approximately 12 pounds, the only thing this 12-year-old, adorable Chi mix is looking for is a cozy little place to call his home. He is an incredibly easy dog! Super sweet and gets along with cats and dogs.

While Dudley doesn't see very well nor hear very well, there is nothing to be done about his left eyeball. The vets believe it is congenital. It doesn't cause him discomfort and he is otherwise a healthy fellow!

Dudley enjoys the outdoors and will happily do his business outside, but just requests a bit of guidance. Likewise, he is pad trained when he gets to know his environment. He is a very sweet, quiet, mellow guy, who can coexist peacefully with all animals and humans, but would just appreciate a tender touch rather than being startled. He enjoys a toy here or there, but hold him in your lap, pet him, stroke him, kiss his little head, and he will melt in your arms, just like butter!!!!

Dudley is a special little angel who has a lot of love to give, yet will ask for so little in return. Just some soft food (chicken is his fave!), a safe space for him to navigate his world, and a gentle human to love, respect, honor and protect him in his advancing senior years."

Potential adopters MUST submit an application and be able to meet/adopt Dudley in person.

To adopt Dudley, please email pupstarzrescue@gmail.com with any additional questions.
